

Eljay’s River Market Coffee House is dedicated to providing the very best specialty coffee and that’s why we selected The Roasterie (www.theroasterie.com) as our specialty coffee provider. Their beans are roasted right here in Kansas City. The “bean-obsessed” people at The Roasterie have mastered the art of bringing out the distinctive character of green beans, which is a roaster’s biggest challenge so that the coffee remains fresh and aromatic. But, having a great espresso bean is only part of the specialty coffee equation. Our baristas are skilled artisans who have learned how to achieve the correct ratio of coffee to water, the right grind, and the proper water temperature, pressure, and contact time so that each specialty cup of coffee is made with consistency and care.
Over the course of the past few months we’ve worked with the Roasterie to create Eljay’s Special Blend for our daily brewing. In addition to Eljay’s Special Blend, we’ve created Ed’s Blend. Named after a friend who been known to frequent a certain “corporate” coffee shop, Ed’s Blend is sure to appeal to the most discriminating palate simply because we figure if Ed likes it, everyone will! Finally, we’ll serve six additional Country of Origin coffees on a rotating basis: Italian Sumatra, Italian Ethiopian, French Mexican, French Brazil, and Vienna Colombia.
Our specialty teas were carefully selected working in partnership with the Tea Market in Brookside (www.teamarketonline.com). Stacy Robinson serves as our specialty tea guru, educating us and our customers about the fine art of making specialty teas. Our specialty teas are imported from China, Japan, Taiwan, India, and Sri Lanka. They are brewed individually for you, hot or cold, and are lovely.
